‘We didn’t think it’d be possible to enclose the entire site because of the different types of surface, but it didn’t seem to be any problem at all for Heras.’

from Groep Van Roey nv

Currently, van Roey is working on the 't Gastenhuys project in Hoogstraten. The old retirement home is being demolished and will be replaced by a new multifunctional development. It will include a reception for Kind&Gezin, an education shop, a toddler play area, premises for the Mental Health Centre and Youth Advice Centre, a kidney dialysis centre, and a day nursery on the ground floor. 35 service flats on the storeys and an underground car park with 42 parking spots.

Naturally, fencing around the project was needed to allow the work to be completed safely. Van Roey and Heras have benefited from their years of collaboration. Evert Bourel (project planner) contacted Heras. The project was discussed at the site. The surface appeared to vary a lot. In addition, the client required the fencing to be secured with poles instead of on blocks. So, it was recommended that three different methods be used to install the fences.

  • Poles were driven into the ground where possible. The ‘standard’ semi-permanent solution from Heras
  • Poles on base plates were used on sections with asphalt or paving. The base plates were anchored to the surface.
  • Finally, steel baseplates were used on sections where the above two solutions were not possible.

Besides the 250 metres of fencing, two double swing gates measuring 6 metres were installed. All of this was done to ensure a neat appearance, user-friendliness, and a sturdy enclosure. In the meantime, the project is in the tear-down phase and project planner Bourel looks forward to a great collaboration.

  • Heras provides a quick response, great communication, and a clear quotation.
  • Terrific work was delivered, all fences were installed exactly as agreed, and moreover, everything was completed on time.
  • Heras surprised us. We requested that the fencing be installed with poles and not on blocks. We didn’t think it’d be possible to enclose the entire site because of the different types of surface, but it didn’t seem to be any problem at all. Heras staff stood out by delivering a customised solution to us per our requirements and that allowed for the terrain.
